How much does an AI chatbot for a website cost?
From 800 EUR to set up and from 49 EUR a month to run. For a typical small business that is about 1 388 EUR in the first year and 588 EUR in every year after. The setup is one-off; the monthly fee covers hosting, the AI model itself, and changes to what the bot says.
What the setup fee covers
- ·Understanding what the chatbot is supposed to achieve — more enquiries, fewer repeat questions, or sales from an online shop. The answer changes how the bot is built.
- ·Building the bot: its name, tone, the form of address, what it may and may not promise, and when it should hand the conversation to a person.
- ·Loading its knowledge — your pages, your prices, your delivery and returns terms, or a live product catalogue.
- ·Tuning the tone. This takes 10 to 20 rounds in a preview chat, never on your live website.
- ·Installation: one
<script>line on your site. Nothing to host, configure or maintain on your side.
What the monthly fee covers
- ·Hosting and the AI model. Model usage is ours to pay, not an extra line on your invoice.
- ·Daily and monthly spending caps per client, so a broken script or a bad actor cannot run up a bill.
- ·A full log of every conversation, and a monthly report you can read.
- ·Changes to wording and knowledge as your business changes.
What makes it cost more than the starting price
- ·A live product catalogue. Prices, stock and product links pulled from your shop — Mozello and Shopify are already built; another platform is one adapter, not a new system.
- ·More than one language. Latvian, English and Russian are supported, and the bot follows the language the visitor writes in.
- ·Handing conversations to people — routing to the right person by email or Telegram, with the transcript attached.
- ·High volume. A shop with thousands of visitors a month costs more to run than a consultancy with fifty.
What it does not include
- ·Writing the content of your website. The chatbot answers from what you already have.
- ·Advertising. We do run META campaigns, but that is a separate service with its own price.
- ·The call centre. That is billed per minute and agreed separately.
How it compares to the alternatives
- ·A contact form costs nothing and answers nothing. It collects a message at 9pm and replies at 9am — by which time the person has asked someone else.
- ·A person on live chat answers well, but a salary for evenings and weekends is a different order of cost, and nobody is there at 3am.
- ·A generic chatbot tool is cheap per month and expensive in your time: you write the flows, you load the knowledge, you fix it when it breaks, and it still answers a question you did not anticipate with a shrug.
Frequently asked questions
What exactly counts as a conversation?
A conversation is when a visitor sends at least one message. The chat window opening does not count and is never charged — plenty of people see it and never write.
Who pays for the AI model usage?
We do. It is covered by the monthly fee, and there is no separate token or usage line on your invoice.
Which languages does it work in?
Latvian, English and Russian. The bot follows the language the visitor writes in, and can be locked to a single language if you prefer.
Where is the conversation data stored?
On our own servers, not in a third-party chat platform. Conversations have a retention period, and each client gets their own privacy policy describing exactly what is kept.
Can it use my online shop's product catalogue?
Yes. Prices, availability and product links are read directly from the shop. Mozello and Shopify are already supported.
What happens when the bot does not know the answer?
It says so rather than inventing one, and where it matters it hands the conversation to a person — with the transcript attached, so the customer does not have to repeat themselves.
